KBATune /
KBATune est un programme crée dans le cadre de la Kreizh Breizh Akademi dirigée par Eric Marchand.
Il est conçu pour permettre une utilisation de l’informatique musicale autant dans le jeu que l’écriture de la musique modale.
KBATune is a program created as part of Kreizh Breizh Akademi directed by EricMarchand.
It is designed to allow use of computer music in the game as much as writing modal music.
KBATune permet d’échapper à la règle du tempérament égal en donnant la possibilité d’accorder chaque note. Ce programme a été développé pour pouvoir fonctionner avec la grande majorité des VSTi, Samplers, périphériques midi, et DAW (Protools, Cubase, Live, Logic…). Il faut voir le KBATune comme un « insert » midi, interceptant les notes midi pour les ré-accorder indépendamment les unes des autres.
KBATune can escape the rule of equal temperament by making it possible to give each note. This program was developed to be interoperable with the vast majority of VSTi,Samplers, peripheral noon, and DAW (Protools, Cubase, Live, Logic …). We must seeKBATune as an Midi Insert, Midi intercepting notes for re-tuning independently of each other.
Les tempéraments différents (Musique traditionnelle, Musique Baroque, Musique Contemporaine) peuvent être alors joués et écrits grâce à ce programme.

» C’est de ces interprétations que nous avons tiré les échelles, sinon les modes qui sont le squelette de nos interprétations et la base de nos improvisations, même si la liberté du soliste vient parfois volontairement modifier cette architecture. Ces échelles utilisent souvent des intervalles de ¾ de ton (ex. : ré mi½b = ¾ de ton). Pour ce troisième collectif de Kreiz Breizh Akademi, le travail d’arrangement et de composition a été fait en collaboration avec des grands maîtres issus d’autres cultures musicales : Ibrahim Maalouf (Liban/France), Fawaz Baker, directeur du conservatoire d’Alep (Syrie), Bojan ‘Z’ Zulfikarpasic et avec l’aide de Thierry ‘Titi’ Robin, Rodolphe Burger, Karim Ziad et Etienne Callac. »

The project to reinterpret the music of Lower Britain following the rules from the world ofmodal (including improvisation) remains the basis of our work.
However, the use of modality and unequal temperaments does not only acoustic instruments.
This group is determined to tackle the numbers of electric sounds using effects andwind instruments, trumpets and saxophones playing as a soloist or section. The rhythm section « traditional » bass (fretless) – Battery is enriched with the timbre of the bass clarinet and electric keyboard « button accordion ».
Moreover, in the work of orchestration each modal solo instrument may have to leavethe melodic lines to take up a rhythmic or participate in its usually a drone or anostinato.
As always we rely on themes from the oral traditions and interpretations of the greatestsingers of Lower Brittany. It is these interpretations that we have learned the scales, ifthe modes that are the backbone of our interpretations and improvisations based,although freedom of the soloist is sometimes voluntarily modify this architecture. Thesescales often use intervals of ¾ ton (eg re mi = ½ b ¾ ton). For this third group of KreizBreizh Akademi, the work of arrangement and composition was done in collaboration with the great masters from other musical cultures: Ibrahim Maalouf (Lebanon / France),Fawaz Baker, director of the conservatory in Aleppo (Syria), Bojan ‘Z’ Zulfikarpasic andwith the help of Thierry ‘Titi’ Robin, Rodolphe Burger, Karim Ziad and Etienne Callac.
